I think the difference is likeability, depth and time spent. We are more attached to Law as a character and is far more interesting than kid. His also just more enjoyable to watch. Kid is an eyesore and has served only to annoy the trio and throw a few punches. We simply just haven't connected to him same as we have law so his flaws are that much more apparent as expected.
